Blue Oak Energy was founded on a singular belief - the transition to clean, renewable energy is an irreversible and irresistible trend. Since 2003, we have been building a world-class team, solely focused on designing, building, and maintaining photovoltaic (PV) systems, positioning us at the forefront of this movement.

Before starting Blue Oak Energy I worked at power electronics companies, solar module companies, and PV system installation companies. This was the infancy of the growing solar energy market; back when solar modules were manufactured by only a handful of companies worldwide. Even with the relatively small systems in those days, the industry lacked coordination between technology, design, and installation.

As systems got larger and more complex I recognized how a focused and specialized technical firm could tie these elements together. The design team must understand photovoltaic science and power electronics, engineering to code requirements, permitting, energy production metrics and true constructability. Plus, there must be a tight integration between the design team and the implementation team to deliver the project to customer, on time and on budget. This shaped my vision to establish a strong company with a lasting brand for solar energy services in the U.S. marketplace.

Environmental Commitment

Our money and efforts are where our mouths are when it comes to protecting our planet's natural resources. We work to minimize waste in our day-to-day operations and we use sustainable products in our work. We live in a bike friendly community and we encourage our team to minimize travel-related carbon emissions.

What is in a Name?

The blue oak is a hardy and drought-tolerant native tree found in the foothills of California. The blue oak is a landmark species that flourishes in the hot, dry summers of the Central Valley where Blue Oak Energy was founded in 2003. Much of the North American solar industry has converged in this region to create one efficient and robust solar marketplace.
