These rooftop solar projects are for Walmart were secured by our customer BP Solar as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Walmart consumes and pays for the solar energy produced on their rooftop at a predictable rate for 20 years.
Full scope engineering and overall project engineer of record for complete construction documents. Blue Oak Energy also performed construction administration and onsite construction management for the project’s installation phases.
In 2007, Wal-Mart launched a solar power pilot project to determine solar viability for their store portfolio. The pilot program consisted of 22 sites across California and Hawaii. On Earth Day, March 22, 2009 Wal-Mart announced plans to double the size of their solar initiative by putting solar rooftop arrays on an additional 20 stores in California. These projects are part of an aggressive environmental campaign that Wal-Mart started in 2005 and continues today.
